Solo Jazz classes in Vigo

A solo swing style. Like Lindy Hop, it belongs to African American culture and emerged during the golden age of the big bands in New York. Solo Jazz lets you interpret swing music and express with your body what it makes you feel. With us you'll learn the original steps of the swing era and later innovations, both in choreographies and in improvisation.

Solo Jazz (also known as vernacular jazz or authentic jazz) is the part of swing you dance without a partner. It gathers the steps people danced in the 1920s, 30s and 40s —Charleston, Suzie Q, Shorty George, Boogie Back…— and many of them live on in routines such as the Shim Sham or the Big Apple, danced at swing parties all over the world.

It's ideal for getting into swing without relying on anyone else, for building rhythm, musicality and style if you already dance Lindy Hop, and for having a whale of a time to big band music.

What our classes are like

Our classes are multilevel: they work whether you're just starting out or already have some experience. We work on the original steps of the swing era and their later variations, in choreographies and in improvisation.
