Lindy Hop classes in Vigo and Pontevedra

Lindy Hop is part of African American culture and is the best-known swing style. It's danced in couples and was born in the 1920s, when jazz big bands were at their height in Harlem (New York). It's the style that brings all swing dancers together on the dance floor.

Lindy Hop was born in the late 1920s in the ballrooms of Harlem, above all the legendary Savoy Ballroom, to the beat of the jazz big bands. It blends steps from the Charleston, tap and other dances of the era with lots of freedom to improvise: every couple interprets the music in their own way.

It's a social dance: it isn't about memorising choreographies, but about learning to communicate with your partner so you can dance to any song with anyone. That's why we rotate partners in class and everyone dances with everyone, so you don't need to bring a partner.

What our classes are like

  • Beginner: we start from scratch, with the essential rhythms, steps and moves.
  • Intermediate: new moves and variations built on the basics.
  • Advanced: we combine what we already know to explore our own way of moving, musicality and improvisation.

We teach Lindy Hop in Vigo and in Pontevedra. You'll find the up-to-date timetable below.
