Charleston classes in Vigo
The dance of the Roaring Twenties: kicks, crossing feet and loads of energy. It's danced solo, with a partner or in a group, and it's the foundation of Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz.
The Charleston shot to fame in 1923 with James P. Johnson's song “The Charleston”, in the Broadway musical Runnin' Wild, although its roots lie in the dances of African American communities in the southern United States. It was the dance of the Roaring Twenties: flappers, high kicks and feet crossing at full speed.
There are two main styles: 1920s Charleston, danced mostly solo or in a group, and 1930s Charleston or swing charleston, danced with a partner and part of the Lindy Hop vocabulary.
